Use of plastic-coated diving weights
Plastic-coated weights are designed for use on a diving belt (or integrated weight systems in BCDs). They provide the necessary ballast to help a diver achieve neutral buoyancy underwater, just like traditional lead weights. The main difference is that the lead core is covered with a durable plastic coating.

Advantages compared to bare lead weights:

• Corrosion protection: The plastic coating prevents direct contact of lead with water, reducing oxidation and corrosion.
• Environmental safety: Since the lead is encapsulated, it minimizes the release of lead particles into the sea or onto the diver’s gear.
