The acid is either neutralized (e.g., with lime), reused, or processed for the production of other products (e.g., sodium sulfate).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"691\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Crushing<\/strong><\/span><br data-start=\"582\" data-end=\"585\" \/>The batteries are crushed in special mills to separate their components: lead, plastic, paste, and acid.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"764\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Material Separation<\/strong><\/span><br data-start=\"719\" data-end=\"722\" \/>Through physical and mechanical methods:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"767\" data-end=\"877\">The plastic (polypropylene) is separated and reused for manufacturing new battery casings or other products.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"959\">The lead is separated into metallic lead and paste (oxides and lead sulfate).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"1089\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Lead Processing<\/strong><\/span><br data-start=\"983\" data-end=\"986\" \/>The paste and metallic lead parts are fed into furnaces to recover pure lead (99.99%).
